Questionnaire analysis

Questionnaire evaluation

We asked ten people to fill out our questionnaire to help us get a more advanced understanding of what the audience wants and expects in our music video to (What A Night) To Be Alive.

Question 1

How often do you watch music videos?

From our results of our first question I can see that music videos are a popular area for the people that we asked, with a few of them watching videos every day of the week. This tells me that our idea has to be original as people would have seen many different ideas in the videos that they have watched before.

Question 2

(After playing our song) Do you like the song we are using by ‘The 99s’?

We got good feedback from playing the song we chose which makes it easier for us to make the music video to the audience’s liking. However, two people out of the ten weren't too sure on the song and didn’t have an opinion. Therefore we are going to have to make the music video memorable so that viewers remember the video and therefore remember the song.

Question 3

What film genres do you enjoy? If other please specify.

From looking at the results from question 3 I see that horror is the favourite out of those who were asked.  However, due to the genre of the song and how upbeat it is horror wouldn't fit the song and would look out of place. Although, comedy is 2nd from the top and it would fit the song well.

 Question 4

After giving out  our questionnaire our results show that the higher percentage of people watched music videos on YouTube. Although, TV is also still a very popular way of watching the videos that they wish to see. This shows to us that if we wanted to get our music video out there than YouTube and TV would be the best place to put it. However, you tube would be the best as it is the favoured.

Question 5

The  evidence that we gathered shows us that the most important factor in a music video is the music. This is good for us as the track that we chose is liked, as we have shown in a previous question. The next factor that our audience believes to be important is performance. We will take that into consideration when planning our final idea.

Question 6

From this we can obviously see that 9/10 people that we asked prefered a male lead. We will obviously listen to this and make our role a male role as that is what the audience wants.

The people that we asked our questionnaire to all found that a stage was the best setting. However, Beach, the streets and other (Bedroom for example) were all equal in their importance.

Open questions

We had 3 open questions in our questionnaire. From them we have gathered enough information to have a clear understanding of what people want from our music video. A  lot of people thought the indie genre to be simple, we will try to incorporate this idea into our video. Other people also thought that to make an enjoyable video would to have some sort of comedy aspect into it. The rough ideas that we have at the moment allows us to get this aspect into our video.
